"The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.”
(Dorothea Lange)
Greetings, and welcome!
I am a photographer based in Brooklyn and sometimes London. I have been taking pictures off and on since high school, starting out way back then with my very first real camera, a 1950s Leica M3, and a handheld Weston light meter, and spending many hours in the darkroom. I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area.
In my prior professional life I was a corporate finance partner first at the US law firm Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP and then the US law firm Morrison & Foerster LLP.
Photography is an essential and important creative outlet for me. Also, it changes the way I see things which is why I like Dorothea Lange’s quote so much. I find myself looking at the world in a different way – seeing details, people, light, color and so much more that I may not have otherwise seen. Most of all – despite its challenges – it is fun!
I have fully switched over to digital and currently shoot exclusively with Nikon and Fuji cameras. I still treasure my Nikons but find myself using the mirrorless Fujis more and more as time goes by. I use primarily Adobe Lightroom for post-processing, although I do some post-processing work in Capture One as well.
